Adapted Programs to assist in Engagement in Physical Activities
Behavioral concerns can affect a children’s ability to engage in physical activity and limit their participation
in social activities. Prompt & Play adapts various activities for kids to meet their behavioral concerns. These can
include getting rid of your fear of bike riding, learning to focus when ball throwing, and behavioral concerns with
soccer and other sports.
Sometimes simply by adapting a program to meet a child’s needs such as providing them visual reminders or social
stories, will change their negative behaviors. We make modifications to allow an individual with behavioral concerns
to participate in physical activities. For example, by changing the student's equipment, task or environment in
addition to changing their behaviors, the client can partake in a variety of physical activities. Not only will
this allow students to engage in a variety of physical activities such as swimming, dancing and bike riding, but
it will also help to promote everyday social skills as well. It is our overall goal to assist children in learning
how to have fun and partake in their environment by taking control of their behavioral needs.
